The guides, articles and answers on this Site are general information for homeowners and businesses in Staunton city. They are not a substitute for an on-site inspection by a qualified technician.
Disclosure: who performs the roofing work
Under the name Staunton Roofing, this website advertises and takes enquiries for residential roofing in Staunton, Staunton city and nearby communities, then refers each enquiry to a single independent licensed roofing contractor, described here as the partner. Staunton Roofing performs no roof inspection, no repair and no replacement, employs no roofers, and is not a party to the agreement between the homeowner and the contractor.
Contractor licensing in Virginia is administered by the Board for Contractors within the Department of Professional and Occupational Regulation, which issues licences by class and by classification, roofing among the specialities. Holding a licence appropriate to the contract, maintaining insurance and workers’ compensation arrangements for its own staff, and answering to the Board are the contractor’s responsibilities. This website and Staunton Roofing hold no contractor licence, registration, bond or insurance for roofing work and assert none, and make no representation that any contractor’s credentials or history have been reviewed by them.
A customer may at any time ask the contractor for its licence number, either on the telephone line shown on this site or directly from the contractor, and may require sight of the licence before work begins. The number is not displayed on this website, for the privacy of a small private business, and any number provided may be verified independently through DPOR’s public licence lookup. Building permits, historic-district review and inspections are matters for the City of Staunton, the City of Waynesboro, Augusta County or Rockingham County as applicable, and not for this service.
Ask for the licence number before you agree to anything (833) 751-2102

Prices are estimates
Price ranges are typical estimates for our service area in 2026. They are not quotes or offers. Your price is confirmed in person before any work starts.
Safety on and around a roof
Do not go up to look. Falls are the leading cause of death in construction work, and roofs, ladders and roof openings account for most of them. A roof that looks sound from the ground can have broken sheathing, rotten decking or a hidden soft spot that gives way under one footstep, and storm damage makes that more likely, not less.
Never walk a roof that is wet, frosted, mossy, or shedding loose granules: asphalt shingles are slick long before they look it, and a shallow pitch is no protection. Never go up after a storm while there is still wind, lightning, standing water or a downed power line anywhere near the house. Snow and ice make the same roof several times worse, and pulling at an ice dam from a ladder brings the ice down on the person pulling it. Keep well clear of the eaves in freezing weather for the same reason.
You can tell us a great deal without leaving the ground: look at the roof with binoculars, photograph what you can see from an upstairs window, and check the ceilings and the attic from inside. Let someone with fall protection and the right ladders do the rest. While work is going on, keep children and pets away from the drip line, keep vehicles out from under the eaves, and treat every nail, offcut and piece of flashing on the ground as sharp. If a ceiling is sagging or wet, stay out of the room under it until someone has looked at it.
Licensing, permits and insurance
Roofing is regulated differently in every state. Some license roofing as a trade of its own, some cover it under a general contractor licence, some under a home-improvement registration, and some leave it to cities and counties, so the requirement that applies in Virginia is the one in force where the property stands. Ask any contractor, including us, what they hold and check it with the issuing authority before work starts. Nothing on this Site is a claim to hold a licence, certification, approval or manufacturer accreditation. Ask us what we hold before work starts, and check it with the authority that issues it.
Replacing a roof normally needs a building permit and an inspection, and which office issues it depends on where the property sits; confirm it with your city or county building department. Shingle, membrane and metal manufacturers give their own warranties on their own terms, and most of them depend on the roof being installed, fastened and ventilated to the manufacturer's instructions; nothing on this Site creates, extends or substitutes for one.
On storm and hail work: we can document what we find and meet your adjuster at the property, but we are not public adjusters or insurance agents. We cannot appraise, negotiate or settle a claim for you, and in many states doing that without a licence is prohibited. Nothing on this Site offers to pay, waive, rebate or absorb an insurance deductible. Whether damage is covered is decided by your insurer under your policy, and information here is a summary, not legal, insurance or code advice.
